Does this mean im officially old? (Don't answer that!)
:(
Anyways, i'm a few days late on this, but its a officially spring(yay vernal equinox!). Im excited. Its still feels like winter outside, but @ least there is warmth on the horizon. Bees and things and flowers yall.
In honor of the new season, I'm posting a youtube clip of a performance of one of my favorite orchestral pieces: "Rite of Spring" by Stravinsky.
This is the final movement, the Sacrificial Dance, and it has quite a complex rhythm. Its simply amazing. Stravinsky is one of my favorite composers.
The conductor is Hiroyuki Iwaki w/the NHK symphony orchestra, and notice how he conducts from memory - no score. Awesome.
by the bye - if any of you guys are star wars fans(my homie R- dont know abt anyone else) the music may sound familiar, it may be because george lucas used this piece as the tracking music for certain scenes in Star Wars: A new hope. John Williams then heavily borrowed from its dissonant synchopation.
oh yeah...it was used in fantasia too.
