I LIKE COMMENTS

Since I embarked on this wild and wonderful world of blogging(btw my yr anniversary was in june and i totally missed it. was I supposed to celebrate? Whats one year? paper? I'll buy myself a new moleskine), I noticed one thing - well actually I noticed a lot of things, but I'm doing my best to stay on topic - and that one thing is that i really enjoy the comments.

There is nothing more rewarding (hyperbole abounds. there are quite a few things more rewarding) than haphazardly piecing a few of my raggedy and sometimes ghettoe(with an e because i'm fancy) thoughts together, hitting publish, and coming back a few hours or days later to find that somebody( or bodies), decided that the subject was interesting enough for them to take the time and not only read it, but leave some feedback! Its teh awesome! I really appreciate it. I don't think I've ever said it before and that's remiss of me.

(Special shouts out to Rashad who's read and endured my tripe from the beginning, and jazz brew who continues to indulge my quirky
didacticism lol. if not for him I'd still be bound by the bonds of brevity. yall rock!)

Its like, I know that basically I blog for myself, but you guys are so insightful and witty that it makes the comments just as important as whatever it is im yammering about.

That's pretty cool.

What precipitated this? Well i'm on cloud seven eight nine because the phillies won this evening(could this be the year philly gets a championship?), and i have the sneaking suspicion that this saccharine laced entry is a byproduct of the endorphin rush that comes with (proxy)winning. So probably i'll be doing the walk of shame through these internets tomorrow cursing myself for letting my soft side out. It was supposed to be an exhibition! :)

But thats okay.

The endorphins will be gone by the morning, but the gratitude will remain. Thank you.

1)the phillies looked good, i must admit
2) congrats on your year anniversary, my favorite entry was the one when you posted a pic of you sleeping
3)comments are so money. when i don't get any i start to doubt whether i was boring or had too many inside jokes.

aww thanks rashad. :) (thanks for sharing ur choice of favorite post. in all honesty i look back on that earlier stuff and cringe...actually ill look back on something I wrote yesterday and cringe. its like watching myself act...or like hearing my recorded voice.)

and yes, the phillies did look good didn't they? that brad lidge is something else. i am dismayed at how many men were left stranded on base though. I hope they rectify that today.

hey, happy belated birthday to your blog. And yes, i know the euphoria of which you speak, and it's addictive. I'm talking now about getting comments, not the Phillies **sorry, not a sports fan**

xoxo

Thanks for the shout out Lex. It has been my pleasure keeping up with that various topics that flow from your brain to my screen. I don't have a specific favorite entry but there were some stand outs... I'll keep them to myself though. :)

Comments are fun and I enjoy hearing people's opinions on topics even if they conflict with my own.

I dig that tune. It has a Stevie Wonder vibe to it. I'm counting on you, Rashad and others to keep me up on the times musicially. I'm so dialed into 40s/late 60s jazz... a lot of the world is slipping by me.

...granted, I think a lot of the stuff getting cranked out is crap BUT I'm anxious for something fresh and new. Since I'm lazy I'll depend on your ears.

chubbs thanks! and you're right it is euphoric. i'm always amazed when someone takes time from the millions of diversions that exist on the internet, and reads what I have to say. its heady.

and may I add that reading your blog always gives me the warm fuzzies. its the digital equivalent of a peaceful stream where its strength is in its calm.

jazzbrew no thank YOU!

you're right that donnie song does have a stevie vibe, i'm thinking its due to the rhodes. not to mention his vocal stylings are decidedly stevie. In fact when i first heard him i thought he was stevie. I was like oh wow a post 1990 stevie song that doesn't have the suck? (sorry but what the fuss was horrible) the same thing when glenn lewis came out with "don't you forget it". dude sounded JUST like stevie.

haha i struggle with new music too, and when i like a new artist or song, 9 times out of 10 its because they sound like an older artist or song. Nevertheless i will do my best to keep you hip, because you sure are keeping me hep. :)

speaking of 1940s jazz, do you like glenn miller, artie shaw, benny goodman et al? i've been on a swing/big band fest all day.

Jazzbrew

You are 100% right about Glen Lewis. The intro to "Don't You Forget It" was Stevie Wonder all the way. Let me take a moment to say that Songs in the Key of Life is one of the best albums of all time (and that includes my jazz favorites). It sort of makes up for "What the Fuss." LOL.

I heard this one tune that I dug recently. I mean I was feeling it. Of course I realized they were sampling the guitar/bass/rhythm riff from EWF's "Can't Hide Love." I find it hard to believe that every note and harmony combination has been used up already. I mean damn...

Begin the Beguine! Yes, I dig the swing stuff - especially Glenn Miller. My main dude is Count Basie though when it comes to big band. I need to get into Chick Webb too.

Album suggestion for you - Count Basie and the Kansas City Seven. Big band swing in a small group package.

Sorry about the Phillies tonight. Once again they left too many men stranded. Don't let it ruin your evening though... plenty of baseball left to be played.

£

aww jazzbrew thanks. :) I must admit, i was a bit melancholy after the loss. I had to keep reminding myself that its just a game. It sort of worked. lol

you're right though there are more games - and the next three are here! *chin up, chest out*

and i don't know why my response to your last response didn't show up yesterday. Anyway, begin the beguine! i love it :D thats one of my favorite phrases to say at random moments. or the inverse: the beguine has begun! lol let me tell you how i almost signed up for ballroom dance lessons just so i could learn how to do the beguine.

oh and yeah thanks for the suggestion, count basie and kc seven. i will be checking for it being that i'll be making a stop @ best buy this weekend

Jazzbrew

Be careful... Best Buy and Target are like CRACK to me. I'll go in for a $20 item and spend $100... it happens every damn time.
